ShredDead DNA: how to get more
DNA is the upgrade currency in ShredDead. You get it by killing zombies before they reach the shredder. The machine at the bottom of the street destroys leaks and, on three separate recordings, drops nothing.
I compared the Steam HUD shot with a Steam discussion from the first week. The screenshot shows four DNA-style counters plus a cash number at once. Players in thread 563671642447089696 talk about blue, yellow, purple, green, and white. Those color names are player words. The game has not published a color glossary, so I will not promote them to official names.
Ways DNA is earned
| Method | What is public | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Kill before the shredder | Shredder kills give no DNA and no drop. | Idle cub, CaptainCigar, Japanese clip |
| Upgrade the zombie | A demo video shows changing per-kill values; other exact values (slow/large enemies) are single-video observations, not a verified current table. | One demo video for early figures; later footage is not an independent confirmation of the same values |
| Horde | CaptainCigar says a horde pays +50% DNA. One voice only. | CaptainCigar, 27 Oct 2026 |
| Boss wave | A new DNA type unlocks after the first boss wave. | CaptainCigar 19:47 and SergiuHellDragoonHQ 49:41 |
| Sell gear | Cash, not DNA. Idle cub shows a $360 sale. What cash buys is not documented. | Steam HUD and Idle cub |

Where it goes
- Player gun: damage, fire rate, range, crit chance, crit multiplier, area. Store screenshot plus the demo video.
- Units: count, damage, fire rate, crit, range. Rifleman recruit cited at 400 DNA (one video).
- Zombies: spawn rate, health, DNA value, new types. Rotten zombie cited at 800 DNA (CaptainCigar only).
- Inventory slots, with 1K and 2K examples on one video.
- Skill-tree nodes. Costs are visible on the Steam shot; names are not.

The bottleneck players describe
One Steam thread says blue DNA piles up past two million while yellow stays scarce, including a million-plus still needed in a white-DNA phase. That is one thread. I am not turning it into a drop-rate. Prestige is said to cut DNA costs; “20% off” appears as a player opinion in that same thread, not as a tooltip I can quote from the developer.
